Know Before You Go

Okanagan International Film Festival and Forum

Theater Etiquette & Distractions

  • Strict Phone Policies: Silence all notifications and refrain from texting or screen-glowing during screenings. Recording any portion of a film is illegal and strictly prohibited (anti-piracy monitoring is heavily enforced).

  • Punctuality & Late Entry: Doors close promptly at the start time. Latecomers are often turned away or asked to wait until an opening scene finishes to avoid disrupting the audience and filmmakers.

  • No Talking: Talking, whispering, or shouting out during films—including Q&A sessions—is heavily discouraged to maintain respect for the filmmakers and fellow attendees.

Celebrity & Filmmaker Interaction

  • Respecting Personal Space: While festivals bring talent into public areas, attendees are cautioned against aggressive behavior, lurking, demands for autographs, or filming guests without consent.

  • No Unsolicited Pitches: Attendees and aspiring filmmakers are warned against cornering industry professionals or directors in bathrooms, lines, or after-parties to hand out scripts or press pitches.

Code of Conduct & Safety

  • Harassment Policies: Zero-tolerance policies exist for harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior at official screenings, panels, and affiliated after-parties.

  • Badges & Accreditation Fraud: Purchasing, sharing, or attempting to use fake badges, wristbands, or press credentials will result in immediate ejection and banishment from future events.

  • Security Checks: Bags may be inspected at doors, and outside food, liquids, or weapons are prohibited inside venues.

Additional Festival Information

If you purchased a 3- or 6-Pack Film Screening Pass, Full Festival Pass, or VIP All Access Pass, you will automatically have access to eligible screenings, forums, and events included with your pass type.

Reserve Tickets In Advance

To reserve tickets online, log in to your account and add tickets for the eligible screenings, forums, or events you'd like to attend to your cart. If your selection is included with your pass and you still have available pass benefits remaining, the ticket price will automatically adjust to $0 at checkout. Need assistance? Contact the box office and we'll be happy to help reserve your tickets.

Use Your Pass at the Door

You can also present your digital pass at the venue and have it scanned for admission to eligible screenings or forums. Admission is subject to venue capacity and availability, so reserving in advance is recommended for popular screenings and events.

The Okanagan International Film Festival and Forum requires all film attendees to hold a current membership in the Okanagan TV & Film Industry Society.

Consumer Protection BC requires you to be a member of the Society showing unrated films, which may not have been classified by Consumer Protection BC. A member is any person 18 years of age* or older who purchases a $2 membership fee. The membership fee is a one-time purchase for each festival attendee.

Festival pass purchases automatically include the membership fee. If purchasing tickets to individual film screenings, please ensure you've added a membership for each person attending the screening. If you missed this step in your initial checkout, please purchase a membership here: OKIFF Membership

Membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase. If multiple passes or tickets are purchased within that one-year period, the most recent purchase date becomes the new membership validity date.

Member Responsibilities

All Viewing Members are expected to support the Society's commitment to providing a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment that is free from harassment and discrimination.

Member Entitlements

Viewing Members are entitled to participate in film screenings and other events, activities, and functions hosted by the Okanagan TV & Film Industry Society.

Membership Revocation or Non-Renewal

The Okanagan TV & Film Industry Society reserves the right to revoke or deny renewal of a Viewing Membership, without notice or refund, for individuals whose conduct is inconsistent with the Society's bylaws and policies.
