KPMG presents

ART@KCT RECEPTION

featuring the work of Kel Taylor, Paula Charter, and Judith Schwarz

In collaboration with KPMG, the Kelowna Community Theatre is excited to present the next chapter of its ongoing Art@KCT initiative. This pair of concurrent exhibitions brings together the distinctive practices of Kel Taylor, Paula Charter, and Judith Schwarz, inviting visitors to explore connection, shared experience, and the subtle ways art engages our senses.

Running from October 16, 2026, through February 6, 2027, these two installations will transform the theatre lobby into an engaging setting for creative conversation and inquiry.

In the RISE Exhibition Space, Kel Taylor and Paula Charter present Beautiful Together. A dual-artist showcase featuring five large-scale paintings, the project highlights how communities grow stronger and more adaptable through cooperation and mutual support. The focal point—a joint painting created side-by-side—blends Taylor's narrative figurative style with Charter's expressive, layered abstract techniques. Exhibited alongside individual works, the collection bridges differing generations and artistic backgrounds to show how creative friction can yield raw, meaningful art. Ultimately, Beautiful Together asks audiences to consider the strength found in unity and shared purpose.

In the CUBE Exhibition Space, Judith Schwarz presents Thrum, a wall-mounted metal sculpture that explores how visual forms can evoke non-visual sensations, especially sound. Arranged as an abstract circular web that responds dynamically to ambient light and the surrounding gallery architecture, the piece draws its title from the steady, rhythmic hum of a collective—like a buzzing beehive or a gathering of people. By using precision laser-cut steel to suggest depth and cast shifting shadows, Schwarz creates a bridge between internal perception and physical space. Exhibited outside of Montreal for the first time, this installation offers a welcoming exploration of resonance, spatial perception, and community energy.

Please join us for an Opening Reception on Wednesday, November 4, from 5–7 PM. Everyone is welcome to meet artists Kel Taylor, Paula Charter, and Judith Schwarz, view the artwork, and celebrate the start of the new exhibition season. Refreshments will be served.

Beautiful Together and Thrum will be on view from October 16, 2026 to February 6, 2027, in the lobby of the Kelowna Community Theatre.

Admission is free of charge, though pre-registration is required.
