The Okanagan International Film Festival (OKIFF) celebrates Canadian, international and Indigenous cinema while supporting the continued growth of the Okanagan’s film and television industry. By bringing filmmakers, audiences and industry leaders together, OKIFF creates opportunities for connection and collaboration while showcasing the region as a premier destination for film production and creative talent.

Marigold: The Tale of God’s Flower (India, language: Tamil)
In a quiet village, an aging, impoverished farmer nurtures marigolds on a small patch of his land, hoping the harvest will sustain him for months to come. With sacks full of vibrant blooms, he ventures into the local market—only to face rejection. The marigold, he’s told, is a flower of death, tied to ancient Tamil customs. As buyers turn him away, he is left heartbroken and desperate, trying to sell his flowers for next to nothing. Eventually, defeated, he abandons the sacks near a market waste bin and walks away.

But the marigold’s journey doesn’t end there. The discarded flowers are picked up, dried, and transformed into incense sticks—rising later as sacred smoke in prayer rituals, reaching the very God he once hoped to serve.

Moral: If a flower is destined to reach God, even when discarded, it will find its way.

Soul: No matter our color, caste, or circumstance—we are all human, and destined to be only that: human.

Promises (Canada, language: English, Panjabi)
In 1995 Canada, two generations divided by silence and shame are drawn together by a promise made during the Second World War. As an aging Sikh veteran confronts the sacrifice and buried grief that have haunted his family for decades, identity, honour, and belonging collide. Blending battlefield memory with domestic reckoning, Promises explores how silence after war and the emotional cost of being left outside the official story of Canadian remembrance culminate in inheritance itself becoming one family’s final battlefield.

Home Base (Israel, language: Hebrew)
Aviv, a young Israeli reservist, is called up on October 7th under emergency orders. Alongside his original team from mandatory service, he now takes part in the assault on Beit Hanoun and the occupation of northern Gaza. The brutal reality of war confronts them with physical and mental trials beyond anything they've known.

When a wall collapses in the room where the team rests, nearly striking Aviv, his calm reaction becomes a target for mockery. But Aviv is unfazed—he prefers to cook for his friends, retreating into quiet rituals amid the storm.

As hours stretch and pressure mounts, exhaustion and frustration surface in tense conversations and exaggerated displays of masculinity. Slowly, Aviv’s detachment begins to erode. Cooking and passive containment can no longer shield him. As the battle intensifies outside, an experience breaks through—forcing Aviv to face the part of himself that went numb on October 7th.

GONE follows two teenage girls as they brave a post apocalyptic world in search of one of their missing mothers.

One Step (BC, language: English)
One Step follows Lily and twelve-year-old Jessie as they flee through forests, tunnels, and abandoned spaces after their country slips into authoritarian rule.

Intercut with their dangerous journey are flashbacks of the life they left behind, revealing Lily’s ideological rift with Jessie’s mother Jane, a rising government spokesperson who initially rationalizes the changes as necessary and temporary.

A haunting meditation on how freedoms erode gradually rather than all at once, One Step explores love, moral courage, and the terrifying ease with which ordinary people are asked to accept the unacceptable, one step at a time.

In the middle of London's mobile phone theft epidemic; a young woman with the reputation of one of the most gifted phone thieves is challenged by a notorious street gang leader to see just how good she really is, but is it a wise choice?

When Wynne, a city woman, becomes her stepmother, their lives begin to intertwine in unexpected and fragile ways.

INVISIBLES (Canada, language: French)
Elizabeth, burlesque performer and sex worker, is passionate about her jobs. But after years of keeping her life as an escort a secret, she wonders if she can still live like this. As she prepares to move on, she accepts one last client, a man with a disability. Their unexpected encounter overturns her certainties and leads her on an intimate and transformative journey.
